I combine my passions in life with what I do for a living — with most of my travel featuring a streak of action or adventure. I am a qualified ski instructor and spend much of the winter in the mountains.
I write regularly for UK national papers, most often for the Daily Telegraph, the Financial Times and the Evening Standard as well as national magazines including Country & Townhouse, Red and Health & Fitness. I contribute to a host of specialist ski and travel titles from National Geographic Traveller and Fall-Line to Snow Enthusiast and Ski+board. I also write for Canada's national newspaper The Globe & Mail plus the regional Toronto Star.
I began my journalism career with the Daily Mail Ski Magazine followed by project management roles on internet start-ups WorldSport, ifyouski.com and a stint at AOL. I then moved to IPC Media where I spent many years heading up the news team on the weekly Horse & Hound magazine.
I am based in Lymington, Hampshire, and when I’m not working I can be found sailing, horse riding, cycling, climbing, walking and paddleboarding (usually with my Rhodesian Ridgeback). I am a qualified RYA coastal skipper, IASI Level 2 alpine ski instructor and have a deep love and appreciation for the countryside, animals and the outdoors.
“Having worked with Abi for eight years, I learned to value her excellent ability to build contacts, smell out a story and employ great thoroughness writing it. News writing across web and print on a very busy weekly news-led title is truly demanding, and it takes a rare kind of person who can do it. Here you have a journalist with a proper subbing training, and can write news and features with similar flair.”
